Welcome to spring!
It’s time to get shooting for the May meeting. There are two topics for this meeting. The first was chosen by the members at the April meeting, faces in nature and unexpected places. My example for this is something like this.
Just look around at buses, cars, trucks, items around the house and work. You’ll be surprised at what you find. The second topic is to find some of those beautiful early spring flowers. This would have been the topic for next month, but spring is rushing in early this year and we don’t want to miss any great chances.
Our meeting should be exciting this month. Ted Sherarts has agreed to make a presentation about composition in photography. Ted, as you may know, was an art professor at SCSU. As I understand, he has a very informative and entertaining style of presentation. I will have a few your minute to bring everybody up to date on my high speed photography project.
Bring your friends, relatives, family, neighbors, and any with an interest in photography to join us at the meeting. We also need more speakers for future meetings and more members to be the “photographer of the month”. See you on the 6th.
Happy shooting, Cameracat
Ted Sherarts a professor of photography at SCSU will be teaching on Composition. Everyone will find this useful and Ted is a member of our club. Please plan to attend.
June 3 is the next meeting date.
With my last three postings you might get the impression that I am an employee of Adobe. Of course I’m not but I am very impressed with the new version of Photoshop, PS CS5. You need to see what it provides by visiting the NAPP Web site at http://www.photoshopuser.com/cs5. Even if you never plan to use Photoshop, you need to see what is available to you in your photography.
Here is another feature of the new PS CS5. I took a three picture pano and then stitch it together. The result is the expected picture shown below.

What we had to do in the past is crop the photo. But now with PS CS5 we can apply one of its new features to get the following:
Of course, a little more work could be done, but the above is the first draft of PS CS5′s work.
I told everyone at the Camera Club meeting last night that I would share some of my photos I took from when the tall ships were in Duluth the summer of 2008. It was mentioned that they will be back and if you can get up there it is quite spectacular! Plan to wait in long lines or get there really early! Here is the link to the current information out there.
This was the closest I had been able to get to the ships that day. I would have loved to have gotten on to them and been able to get some more close ups, but the lines were very, very long!!!
This is from Enger Tower with my 70-300 mm lens.
Here is Enger Tower and some other views from it. It is the tallest point in Duluth! There are amazing views and also amazing gardens down below it. I highly recommend it!
Anyway, that was my experience with the ships being in Duluth, August 2008.
