Here is the group that attend the Photowalk this year (minus Denise who came shortly after we snapped this shot).
Richard, Mike, Rachel, Cheryl, Grido, Dawn, Dave, Larry, Steve, Tim, Dale and April
Watch out on the Flikr site ( http://www.flickr.com/groups/1442317@N24/ ) that was created for the walk or maybe some will post some of their SCSU and Munsinger Garden shots from the day out here. It was a beautiful day and I would say a great time was had by all! Thanks for coming out to all that were able to make it!
The site has been updated to show the St. Cloud area Photowalk site. I would encourage anyone that is interested in participating in the walk to head out to the site: http://worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/st-cloud-mn-united-states-scsu/ and sign up. The more the merrier!!! The walk is on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 9:30 am. We will meet in front of the Atwood Center on the SCSU campus. After the walk is over let’s meet at the coffee shop attached to the University Crossings bookstore and share our experience and some of our pictures! If you have any questions, please contact me at naturewood2002@yahoo.com . Thanks everyone!
I had my camera at a Kutless concert the other night. I tried to get some close ups of the band members. With the lighting it was a bit challenging, but with my 50 mm Canon lens, I was able to at least get a few shots. I kept the settings simple and set the ISO to 800. Here are just a few of the ones that I was pleased with in the end.
I told everyone at the Camera Club meeting last night that I would share some of my photos I took from when the tall ships were in Duluth the summer of 2008. It was mentioned that they will be back and if you can get up there it is quite spectacular! Plan to wait in long lines or get there really early! Here is the link to the current information out there.
This was the closest I had been able to get to the ships that day. I would have loved to have gotten on to them and been able to get some more close ups, but the lines were very, very long!!!
This is from Enger Tower with my 70-300 mm lens.
Here is Enger Tower and some other views from it. It is the tallest point in Duluth! There are amazing views and also amazing gardens down below it. I highly recommend it!
Anyway, that was my experience with the ships being in Duluth, August 2008.
Okay, I hoping to get lots of thoughts, opinions, suggestions, and
hopefully direction on what lens I should get to replace my 70-300mm
Canon zoom lens that I am selling. I am being purposeful to replace it with either IS or
VC depending on the brand. I am not opposed to getting a lens that
will take the place of my kit lens and the zoom one at the same time. My budget is
$500…I hope you can help
!
If anyone has samples of a suggested one they think I should consider, any chance you can bring it to the meeting on Tuesday?
Thanks everyone for your help, I really appreciate it!

I was reading this post today and it reminded me of someone else that I have been following. At Living and Loving Every Moment blog she has been using this little kitty in an ongoing photo opportunity, like this.
I was thinking that once I am done with the ABC challenge that I might do something similar. I haven’t determined the object that will be in every shot yet, but I thought that it might be a great way to get through the winter and inspire me to keep taking pictures and experimenting. I think if I did indeed commit to 100 shots or days with it that Spring would finally arrive and we would be in happy springtime shooting mode!
Just yesterday my son William was asking me when the grass was going to be coming back…sorry bud, but we have a ways to go
!
Anyone else interested in something like this challenge?
So, how about the flash…you already know I HATE my flash…nothing new about that right? Well, I was reading this blog today and at the bottom she mentioned the LightScoop. Hmmm, I went and peaked at it and you know what…IF…I had to use a flash, this would most certainly be the way to do it. My 50 mm lens has really done the trick for me in the area of lighting, but this looked like an inexpensive option for those that just can’t part with their flash. What do you think about it? Have you tried it before?
