LaVona Sherarts
LaVona Sherarts is a throwback to another artistic era when the artist emerged from the same mileau as her sitters. She’s a photographer of the people who surround her and share her space whether on the road in Europe or down the street in St Cloud. An artist of the people she photographs she goes beyond stealing the smiling faces of her immediate community to picture the organic soul of the these folks as if to say we share the same bread , the same tea and my pictures record these temporary gatherings, these comings and these precious eternal images of her life and their’s . She's made a DuChampian game of her pictures so when she arrives at the cafe everyone jossles to see how LaVona’s camera has recorded their appearances. She’s created a deeper experience for her friends and acquaintances by showing respect and deference for the ordinarinest of life. Her affection for people, for simple communities is deeply spiritual and shows how wisdom conquers vanity and opens our eyes to the people all around us as world.
